English+Law – this two week course is for undergraduate law students studying law in their home country. Each student should prepare by studying a case that has worked through their home legal system – students should be aware of the full case including background, legal issues and conclusion/outcome. Armed with this case, students then seek to find comparable cases in UK law and to research the way in which the UK legal system would manage a similar case.

This course can be used by the participating university staff to offer credits to students and form a part of their studies. In this instance, credits will be apportioned according to the quality of a piece of written work which aims to compare the UK and home legal system – including technical definitions and summary of the passage through the legal system. On the final day of the course in Exeter students present their findings, either individually or in mini groups. Oral presentations may also be marked and put towards credits.
