Our Summer Course Locations
Exeter
IPC’s Junior Summer School takes place in the historic cathedral city of Exeter, in the South West of England. Exeter is a small, safe and welcoming city, making it an ideal location for young international students studying abroad for the first time. The city combines a friendly atmosphere with beautiful historic streets, riverside walks and easy access to the countryside and coast of Devon.
Teaching Location - 7 Colleton Crescent
Lessons normally take place at our school building at 7 Colleton Crescent - a short walk from Exeter’s High Street and cathedral. The elegant Georgian crescent, built from 1849 onwards, overlooks the River Exe and is one of the most attractive historic areas of the city.
Exeter’s compact city centre means students can easily become familiar with their surroundings, while the city’s relaxed and friendly character helps students quickly feel comfortable and confident during their stay.
Exeter School
If numbers for any one summer school course exceed 90, the course is moved to our Exeter School site. Exeter School is a successful private school located in one of Exeter's best residential areas. The school offers excellent facilities including;
- Coded gate entry system (security)
- Spacious, airy classrooms
- Purpose built outdoor spaces for breaks
- School hall for assemblies and evening activities
- Sports facilities on-site
- Easy access to city centre
- Coach departure zone
Accommodation
Students stay with carefully selected host families in residential areas of Exeter. Homestay accommodation gives students the opportunity to practise English outside the classroom and experience everyday life in a British home.
Living with local families also helps create a supportive and welcoming environment for younger students.
Students travel to and from school by bus - a confidence building opportunity - journey time is typically between 20 and 45 minutes.
Activities and Excursions
Afternoon activities take place in Exeter and nearby locations including parks, sports facilities and cultural attractions. The programme also includes excursions to places of interest across Devon and the South West of England.
All activities are supervised by IPC staff.
The building provides eight classrooms, a spacious common room and student facilities, creating a comfortable and welcoming learning environment for our summer programme.
Colleton Crescent has also attracted artistic attention in the past — the famous British painter J. M. W. Turner sketched views of Exeter during his visit in 1811, and the crescent appears in paintings of the city from the River Exe.
